Written as a love letter to all of the favorite solo pieces from my undergrad, Something pays homage to three great standards of the clarinet repertoire; borrowing its contemplative, longing lines from Wilson Osborne’s Rhapsody, its aggressively playful and sharp interjections from Igor Stravinsky’s Three Pieces, and it’s flighty, stark contrasts from Joan Tower’s Wings.
